Hello my name is Janet. After a lifetime of interest in technology and radio, I achieved my Foundation licence in September. I trained at the Newbury club. Unlike many YL operators, I am the only one in my family to be into radio - that's why it took me so long to get to being licenced. I can speak various languages, so am interested in using these on air. And i am used to microphones as i have done some broadcasting with the BBC. So far I am only able to use 2m as I am waiting for my antennas to be put on the roof. Thanks for setting up this site - I found it through RadCom.

Hi There!
Well done for taking the plunge and deciding to take your license. I'm sure that with your long interest in radio you will have no problems with it.
I've been off air for the last few months, but will soon have access to an HF radio again. I'm looking forward to maybe chatting with some of you from the USA. It will be a challenge on 50w but it's something I will enjoy! :-)

Cool, Jackie! Maybe someday we can chat when I am more advanced! I am a little nervous about going on the air for the first time....but also excieted about it! My husband has some great equipment and I will learn many new things from him. I will have my own HT unit that my sweetie has given me. Any advice would be most welcome from you, Jackie or others you are veterans! Thanks.

I am a little nervous about going on the air for the first time....but also excieted about it! My husband has some great equipment and I will learn many new things from him. . I think everyone is nervous about getting on the air a first. I always listen alot before I am comfortable talking. My hubby talks on air more than I do. when you are General Class liscens there is a very friendly group on 1.872-MHz usually around 6:30 eastern time. Tom kc8qgj is a net control he is very nice and friendly and welcome anyone newly licensed as well as long time licensed, it is very friendly and you can talk about anything.
