Hi Zo and Renae!
Good luck with 40m and 80m. I have never managed to hear anyone from Stateside on those Bands. 20m is best if you have the equipment. We are stuck at the moment because my beam which I use for 20m is still storm-damaged! I can sometimes pick up signals on the trapped dipole but I don't get out too well on it - except on 40m and 80m.
Once some of you ladies are happy to go out on HF we'll have to set something ip on one of these bands and see how we get on. 20m is great for DX but not very good for inter-G!

I can get 80m, 40m and I think we can also get 20m so I will have to have a listen out on there as well. We are all helping one another pretty well and I hope we will soon all be calling on those HF Frequencies

I look at the grey line map and listen on 17 or 20 meters as that is when dx is easiest for me to hear. 40 meters I have heard people thoughout the country.

i was thinking of ways to get more people chatting and thought why not have a room on Eqso jackie a Lota room this would be easy to set up a net listing times on here and then that night log into eqso and then all could chat in the room and even shy females can chat and swl`s can use the room as its not a linked room so no RF would be used i think your members would use this as most have a pc and a few pounds buys a mike headset to use the pc to chat and this would be good as you could use without the need for a radio and band conditions i know most would say its not real radio but its a option to chatting with old and new users just a thought Gordon

Gordon, sorry for the late reply. Danel is full of cold and isn't at all well. He's having trouble keeping his milk down too, poor babe!
Anyway, great suggestion! I had been looking at Echolink because one of the members used to run an Echolink net for us but she's no longer able to do it.
I had never even heard of EQSO! It looks really simple. I have registered but not yet downloaded the software. My lap top is a bit old and slow so I don't want to put it on that. We hve a computer in the shack which is much better. We have lots of rubbish on it at the moment so Steve is going to format it and clean it up, so we can just have radio related things on it.
Once we have that up and running we'll try and arrange some nets!
Thanks for that!

I have just registered with eQSO. I did have it on the PC once before but got rid of it for some reason! I have to say I have no problem with Echolink. It is still possible to run a Net on it without using UKLOTA. 2 of the Groups I join (when I remember, Hi) use local repeaters - both in Canada. One of them is a local 2metre one in Ontario so Minnie VE3DBQ can join in on her 2m rig and the other one is in Vancouver (I think it is a special Echolink server?) and we have YL's from Oz, Canada, NZ and UK on it!
the main problem with our old UKLOTA Net was finding a day/time to suit everyone. I often ran up Echolink at the appointed time and was the only one around so I gave up trying.

Hi Gordon,
Hopefully I will get my pc upstairs sorted shortly and sort out a microphone for it. Once I am up and running (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) I will nip on to your boards and let you know then between us all we can decide what are the best days/time for nets.
