Maureen, I hope you get your antennas back up and working!
I know when we were in between antennas on 160 meters I didn't like it. During the day I scan around the bands ( most of the time I listen more than talk).

Hi Rennae!
Unfortunately, one of the problems is that my OM is a workaholic and has very little spare time! Maintaining our antennas needs at least 2 people and I am not really fit enough to help with the more physical side of actually getting them down so we have to wait until No 1 son can get here to help the OM with it. Current weather conditions seem to conspire against us - if it is good during the week it is lousy at the weekends. If it is wet or windy we are stuck! Looks like we'll have to wait for the better weather. Nwever mind - there's always this forum and Echolink to help me keep in touch!

Mine is a workaholic too, he works alot and when he is home he finds projects to work on as well. He deals with our antenns( of coursewith our antenna restriction we don't have a beam) he always does antennas stuff alone which sometimes makes me nervous.

Unfortunately the OM (Keith!) works from home and as he deals with a number of countries around the globe we get phone calls at all hours - at least he disconnects the phone at night!! I get nervous when he works on the antennas on his own as well. We have the beam on a tiolt-over mast but it needs 2 people to control it safely and I'm not strong enough. We'll get there one day!

I hope at some reasonable timeyou can get them up again. I get extremely nervous when he does antenna or any work up high alone. But that is how he is , he likes to do things on his own.

Den deals with the antenna side of things but he always has someone with him which makes me a deal happier as Den has fear of heights. It certainly is a relief when he tell's me that one of our friends is coming round to help. Maureen I hope your antenna problem can be sorted out soon. It must be quite frustrating not being able to go on the air or even just listen. At the moment our Cobwebb antenna is poorly and needs to be taken down for maintanence before I can use it with my radio but i do have a longwire that I can fall back on...thankfully.
