Thanks Renae! I have started listening and it surley helps! Plus you learn what the lingo means, also! My husband is a HAM operator and he is very helpful to me! And with this new group...I hope to learn much more. It is a new adventure...like hiking a new trail! I also Hike alot with my man and we love it! My husband and I became licensed at the same time, we took all the tests together. first Tech ,then code then General. It helps with the nervousness to have another licensed operator right there with you. Sometimes i will make contacts by myself, usually I am in the same room as he is.

Hi every one!
My name is Simon, I am 19yrs old, I have been a M3 since March 2003 but I am currently studying for the 2E course, which I take in February. I have been a listener since I was about 5yrs old. Most people know me through my Dad, Bob Treacher BRS32525 or M3RCV. I enjoy contesting and award chasing and high speed CW contest!
I live in SE London, in Eltham, about 10mile from the city centre.
Rig at home is FT-1000MP/IC-706MKIIG/IC-703 depending on what mood I am in! Antennas are nothing special a R6000 Vertical and a Full Size G5RV, but they seem to get out very well!

Hiya Simon,
We have the FT-1000 but it's not the MP version. I think that my local radio club runs the MP, it's a cracking radio!
High speed CW contests sound like fun! I'm always envious of people who can do CW, I wish I could but never seem to have the time to learn it. The chairman of our local club John is into CW contests, his call is G4RCG.
Anyway, thanks for joining.
Speak to you soon, 73's

;D I'm new. My name is Leslie - yes I know what's the boys way of spelling it but my mother can't spell! I passed my foundadtion license 3 weeks ago. I mainly chat on 2 metres (145.212.5) which is the worcester link. I'm part of WRAA - Worcester Radio Amateurs Association (http://g0wxj.demon.co.uk/) and I'm also part of the sub-committee.

It was my father who spelled my name wrongly - yes, I know it is spelled the usual way, but for some reason my Mum wanted it to be Moreen, which is, I believe the Irish way - strange as I am Scottish!!

Hi All,
My name is Angela and my UK callsign is M1SCH and my Dutch callsign is PE1BIV. Not really active, except for running a Packet BBS with the Dutch callsign. We are living in the Netherlands, in a town on the coast west of Amsterdam. My partner is M3OWL.
No idea if I will be checking in much, as I'm not really in online forums, but active in a YL e-mail group and obvioulsy I do read the YL-messages in Packet.
Rgs, 73, 33, Angela
PS. No s or 's to be added: 73: Best Regards. 33: hugs, 88: Love and kisses. As you see, all already plural.

Hi Angela, it's wonderful to meet you. I am from Slough in Berks, but now reside in Anderson, South Carolina. I love your signature because the old 's or not to s' debate both amuses and tickles me. As I try to be a socially accepted ham and not confused with a CBer, I usually sign as 'seven three', to make it extra non essy sounding. Then one day a very, very old ham who always signed, up until he became a silent key at about 97 years of age or more, by saying 'seventy threes' emailed me a little something you may enjoy. He sent me this after I was scolding a new ham, who is a very close friend, for saying the 's' word like a CBer rather than sounding like a proper radio amateur by saying seven three or seventy three......... The only text that followed went something like this....... "Tom, If it was good enough for the 'Old Man', it's good enough for me. 73's, George" I loved it....... it rather put me in my place in a hurry!

Hello to Jackie and Renae, and everybody else on the LOTA. I just happened to find the sight and I love it, I was beginning to think that there were not as many YL'S out there, well being one of them hello to the Guys as well. I have been a ham Since 12/05 went from Tech to Extra in 8 Months. I own two Yaesu's 2 meter rigs, 1 Kenwood HT, Yaesu FT 857 and Icom 706 MK II G, that is my favorite Radio. I have a 150 ft Random Wire antenna and all the Hamsticks 10-160 meters and a 10-40 Pacific Antenna which I built from A kit. If you want to see that antenna and read about it Pacific antenna.com is the site. I am mobile sometimes in the warmer weather. I Hope to meet some of the members someday. Tnx so much for the site.
