17 Meter Modification for BTV Antenna This modification requires some aluminum bar stock for the base mount assembly, A hustler M0-2 mobile mast unit and a RM-17 resonator and whip. No super resonators are available for 17m so power out is limited to 400 watts. If 12m is also preferred, a VP-1 and RM-12 resonator may be added but here our main interest is in 17m. First, take a 13-inch (33cm) piece of bar stock and drill and tap a 3/8inch- 24 hole 1 inch (2.5cm) from one end. On the other end, drill 2 screw holes for attaching to the angle mount. Next drill and tap for the preferred screws the end of a 3-inch (7.6cm) piece of bar stock. Now attach the 2 pieces at a 90-degree angle and use 2 friction clamps to the base of the BTV’s radiator. Assemble the mobile mast and resonator into the 3/8-24 hole. This antenna assembly should run parallel to the mother antenna with 1-foot (30.5cm) spacing. My stinger extends from the coil about 15 3/4inches (40cm) for a 1.5:1 SWR. Hope the photos help out also. Have worked DX on 17m with this set up.

Wow, that's great. I really like the 17m band, have had some lovely clear QSO's on it. I'll definitely be looking at this once I have my own place and my own rig. As of now 17m is my favorite DX band , that is where I have made my contacts.
