Hi Jackie!
Glad you liked the idea! I am now on it as well - mind you, it took me a while to work it out - I wasn't going to ask the OM! Look forward to seeing everyone else on the map!

I hope no one will be offended if I decline because I am very worried about security and privacy concerns. There is no way I would give out my town or zip code on the Internet for just anyone to view and I see that anyone can view those maps, not just members. Call me neurotic but when you have done Server and IT Management training it does make you very wary. I am sorry if my refusing to go on the map spoils it for you but there is no way I will go on there. I am a very private person and, hopefully, went detaiuls withheld when we moved. Sorry Angie

No offence taken, Angie!
We all respect each others ideals, etc. Security is such a big problem in all walks of life these days! The OM had already put us on one of the other maps so one more was not going to make any difference to us!
cheers

I have added me No worries Angie. We all have our own idea's with regards internet security. There are more ways than we are aware of people getting hold of our info. Now people just go looking in our rubbish bags to find info they can use so I certainly don't blame you for wishing to keep your anonnimity - did I spell that correctly? Zo

I agree with Zo & Maureen, you need to only do what you feel safe doing on the internet. No offense taken at all here.

Thanks for that as I did feel a bit mean not putting myself on the map. The Server and IT Management courses I have done have certainly opened my eyes to things and yes our paper rubbish too, I have shredder hope you all do too and cut your old Bank cards in many little pieces! What I really hate is this Chip and Pin stuff as I am sure people who really want to could see what you are entering - do you have Chip and Pin in the USA Renae?

I am not sure what Chip and Pin is but we do have people who try to put KeyLoggers on your computer. Which can track everything you type.

Hi angie!
We object to Chip and Pin in this household. Not so much the system, but the fact that the only way you can change your Pin is to use the 'hole-in-the-wall'. We NEVER use the 'hole' for safety reasons so we asked the Bank (HSBC) if we could change it any other way and were told we could not. We may consider changing Bank but I think they are all the same!

Unfortunately the banks are all the same and the only way your money would be safe is if you had a plain savings account which allowed you not to have a card of any sort. I hate this whole idea of chip and pin altho I must admitt I do use my card in the hole in the wall because I much prefer cash. However having said that I think all this is going towards a totally cashless society which even the idea of frightens the pants off me. We will soon have chips in our bodies where we scan a hand over a sensor and things are done that way and this has to be what frightens me the most.....Oh well, do you think if enough people complained that kind of thing wouldn't happen? Nah, I don't think so.

Now that I see more of what Chip and pin is, I do not think that is avaiable here in the US. Angie I thought Chip and pin was realted to computers. I am old school. I use cash, write checks to pay the bills rarely use my credit cards, do not bank on-line,do not have automatic payments of any kind (nothing is going to automatically come out of any of my bank accounts) nor do I use an ATM or Debit card. I notice here more and more when I am in a store people using debt cards, credit cards or write checks, less and less pay with cash.
