Hello all. My name is Alison and I'm currently living in Brisbane, Australia. I'm not licenced yet, but have reserved the call sign which used to belong to my late father. I'm studying towards the advanced AOCP (Australian Operators Certificate of Proficiency). What a mouthful! Can't they say full licence? Why am I jumping in the deep end? Because Dad's licence needs the full theory anyway which I can study on-line and I don't want to try to book a Foundation course at the local club as I've got too much fear of a certain lech. I live with my fiance who has a full licence and we enjoy the WICEN (like the English Raynet) events that we do. We both feel really good about putting radio to use like supporting 80 young horseriders in a forrest in the dark! I've talked on the radio a few times at that event but it always seems weird to jump into a group with my voice when the caller is expecting him! Hopefully I'll be able to take the exams in the middle of next year and be on the air properly after that. 73 Alison. PS. I'm confused as to what all the other numbers mean.

Hi Alison and Welcome!
Good luck with studying for your Licence - keep in touch and let us know how you are progressing! I used to ride horses - but not in the dark. I also completed in Carriage Driving Competitions, reaching the National Championships 2 years running! they could have done with some radios then when some people took the wrong course!!
There are other numbers around which I can't remember - I think one of them is the 3 common ones added together!! All the Best

Hi Alison,
Welcome to Ladies on the Air. Sorry it has taken me so long to get around to your post, work has been so hectic lately.
Good luck with the license Alison, I hope you pass. It would be lovely for you to have your fathers call sign. If you pass (which I am sure you will!) what will your call sign be?
Thank you for joining and I hope you enjoy chatting with the ladies and having a read through some of the posts.
33's Jackie.
PS, I didn't know what 33's was either!
