Hee hee crazy is a good term I would apply to myself but hopefully in the nicest sense of the word which I am sure applies to you also:) Thats great news Maureen because I had my test result slip back from the licensing board yesterday morning and my callsign will be following soon...hopefully tomorrow. If it hasn't arrived I will be ringing up to find out when they will have it and if they will tell it to me so I can get on the air. It might be worth checking when it will actually be in the International Callbooks too so that I have a good idea of when to join!

Renae, Me and Den found the node number for Illinois (sorry if spelling is incorrect )....We logged onto it to see if there was anything happening and Den put out a CQ but was quiet...hopefully we may be able to find the reflector which will allow us to hear anyone within a certain area of it....have I got that correct is it a reflector or repeater I need...lol..I knew it last night Anyways you never know one of these days you may well hear me calling as the difference between nodes is that on nodes you can only get 2mtrs but on the repeater/reflectors you can pick up any band within the pick up distance or strength etc....I think you know what I mean..having one of those moments... 33's n 73's Zo

Renae if you just put irlp in a search engine you will find the page that you need that gives all the node numbers for all the active nodes and all the other info that you need to key into your radio for you to be able to use the nodes. You need a keypad on your radio but if you haven't got one you can purchase a keypad that sends the correct tones through your mike bit like a mobile phone keypad...it's the tones that you punch in that activates the various nodes. You would need to know the illinois node number and the frequency that the local node operates on and the CTCSS number to key into your radio to access the CTCSS. Your radio handbook maywell tell you how to do this. Den did it for us so I can't say 100% how you do it....Once you have the relevant frequency and CTCSS code programed then you can access the local node and use that to access other nodes around the world...you know if you have activated one because you will get a welcome message...then just wait a few seconds before keying up and calling...also give a second or two before releasing the mike key when finished or the end of your message might get cut off at the otherside....The IRLP site gives all the nodes and all other info needed to access them...hope I am making sense....

Our new dedicated ladies Node will be up and running very shortly and I'll give you all the information as soon as it's available, just finalising set-up and formalities. Although it will be titled for UK ladies, it will be available for worldwide useage. Have a look at www.echolink.org - that's the system we'll be using and it will give you some background as to how it all works.
