Hi everyone, name here is Linda and my callsign is G6HZI.
I live in Central England and am surrounded by Radio Hams - both my father and husband are licensed as was my late uncle.
My husband is instrumental in the internet/VOIP repeater GB3DX.
I don't operate much but, I do listen!
Looking forward to making new friends.

Hi, here comes another new meber. My name is Ulla and I live in the southeast of Sweden close to the Baltic Sea. I have been a Han for about five years. I used to be a radio-operatior on Swedish vessels when I was younger. This was long time ago. I prefer CW but I don´t mind SSB either. Favorite HF band is 80 meters but I operate all bands from 160 m to 10m. I don´t have anybody in my family who is intrested in radio, but my husband is a engineer on a tugboat. He is right now on his way home from Spitzbergen (Svalbard). Best Regards and 33 from Ulla

Hi everyone, Welcome welcome welcome!! I can't believe that I didn't set the authorisation to automatic! How dumb can one person get?! Oh well, you are all here now and it's great to finally meet you all. Renae, thank you for contacting me about your troubles logging on, everyone may have been sitting there for months before I realised! Great pic by the way! Linda, I probably do more listening that talking on the air really but that's probably because I get nervous and end up tongue tied at what to say. That was one of the reasons why I set up this board, so that we can get to know each other first on here. Find out what each others interests are and then if we all do get to chat on air we will have lots to talk about and will feel like we already know each other. Ulla, CW is my aim! I started off learning the alphabet a while back but ended up too busy to concentrate on it. I've started again so hopefully I will get there this time. One thing that attracted me to CW was that no one knows you are female, until maybe you give them your name. When I first started going on HF I would get swamped by people shouting me, and because I was nervous to start with that would make me more flustered. With the help of my friend Steve and some of the members from our local radio club I am building up more confidence on the air. Even helped out in an SSB contest a couple of month or so back, admittedly it was very quiet! ;D Great to have you here and any suggestions about the forum will be greatly appreciated. Any changes that could help, colour changes or anything just let me know. 33's Jackie

Jackie, I tried to register Friday and when I still was waiting to be authorized I decided to email you I am glad I did, otherwise I would have been waiting for ever. Linda I too listen more than talk, my husband talks me into talking, I am more comfortable with people I know. I ambecoming less intimidated with DX. I am still a little mic shy but getting better. A good progam if you want to learn code is code quick. www.cq2k.com/it uses an technique so that you hear each code symbol as an English sound-alike. I learned in about a month time, (It took my husband a little longer because he had lesss study time) when I took the code test I had almost ( just missed one number in a call sign) perfect copy! ;D I was very intimidated to learn the code. i highly recomend this program if you want to learn code.

Hi, everyone. I'm Katie, and my callsign is BU2AO. I live in Taipei city, Taiwan, and just QRV and licenced few months ago. My boyfriend is also a ham(BU2AI). I prefer SSB, sometimes I also do CW, though my skill of operating CW is not good. Favorite HF bands are 15m and 20m, but I also operate 10m and 40m.
I have some QSO with YL station in Japan and Indonesia, but no QSO with YL station outside Asia.I'm really glad to meet you all here and hope to see you on the air.

Thanks for the link to that site Renae, I'll check it out.
Hi Katie, and welcome to ladies on the air. I don't think I have had a QSO with anyone in Asia yet, YL or otherwise! Once I have sorted myself out with a rig it would be great to try and meet up on the bands sometime.
Only having the foundation license here I am not allowed to operate on 10m, it's the only restriction on what band I'm allowed on, I can use all the others.
Really good to meet you Katie and I hope you enjoy Ladies on the Air.

Hi, Jackie, I am very happy to join this forum and making new friends here.
YL stations are rare, especially in Taiwan. There are several licenced YL stations in my country, but they are rarely on the air. BV2RS is the most active YL station in Taiwan, however, she lives in U.S.A. right now.
I found this forum by google searching "YL station" (thanks google:)), and thanks again let me join here. I do enjoy Ladies on the Air! Hope to see you on the air oneday.

Hi Katie, Thanks for letting me know how you found us, it comes in handy to know for any future advertising. So, if I get a chance to talk to you on HF one day it would be an asset to my log if YL's in Taiwan are rare All the best,

Thanks for my welcome Jackie and a big welcome to all of the other ladies, such worldwide coverage!
I know what some of you mean about being a bit tongue-tied on the air - it is a bit intimidating, even after 24 years of being licensed - I am making myself go on air more these days, even treated myself to a new rig at the Donington Rally.
Take Care. Linda

I was at the Donnington rally too ;D
When there is the next big rally in UK, we'll have to arrange before hand who is going to be there and I will try and get some ladies on the air badges and send them to you. That way we might be able to meet up in person.
I did think about getting some badges or something similar for all the members but they worked out fairly expensive when bought in small quantities. I might think about getting something at some point if I can get it cheap enough.

Hi ladies, Thanks for welcome. I just licenced for few months, it's really fun on the air and talking to someone far away. Every OM and YL I met is so nice and polite. It is really wonderful. Hope every new member enjoying here and amateur radio.
