Hi everyone, as some of you will already know, my partner James is totally mad on ham radio and seeing as I know very little about it, I was wondering if any of you had any ideas what I could get him for Christmas? I wanted to surprise him with something radio related, so he knows I have put some thought into it. It is our First Christmas in our own home, so its special to us both. Hope somebody can help! 33's Sam ;D

Hi Sam,
I know you have said James is totally mad on radio amateuring but if you could give us some idea's of what he already has that would help some of us tremendously in making suggestions. An idea to start you off on thinking is ask James about what he has and what kind of knick it is in and try and tease out any info that might suggest he actually needs something replacing as that would be a good starting point. Also listen out for him saying I need this or that for the shack....hope that helps for now and I hope we can help you formulate a list of possiblilitie. 33's
Zo

Hi Sam!
How about a radio-controlled 24 hour clock. It is always useful to have 2 in the shack - one set to local time and the other to UTC! As Zo says, it depends what he has already and also how much you want to spend! A decent new radio could, for instance, could cost up to £2000.00! Wow! That would be great! For something more personal you could make him up his own log book printed on the PC with a personalised cover.

I agree with Zo and Maureen, depends on what he already has. Radio equipment can be $ $ $
a 24 hour clock would be good.

Thanks girls :-) I will give u more info on what he has soon, so keep the ideas flowing!! xx

Hi Sam! Happy to help! Another idea for you - I think the TS480 is the portable Kenwood in which case the MP1 Antenna might be useful. See www.superantennas.com. I use one when I take a demo station to places without antennas. It works quite well. Keep searching! Maureen

If you dont know what to get if he has a favorite place he purchases from , you can always get him a gift certificate and he can use it toward something he really wants.
