Yay!! I got my first QSL card in the post today. It was from Tony (AD1Y) from New York. We had a contact on PSK31 a couple of weeks back and it was my first USA contact.
I've had QSO's now with a couple of American's using the North Wakefield Radio club station (400 W!!) but have only managed to contact USA on PSK using our own radio (only 10 W). Roll on September when I can go in for my intermediate license and then Oct when I start on the advance course!!! ;D

Well I have had quite a few more QSO's since then but no more QSL cards I think I only got that one so quickly because he sent it direct. All my others are probably working their way through the beurau as we speak! I acually spoke to an American guy called Chuck a couple of days ago, he was in Colorado. That was my first QSO with the states using my own callsign and just 10w.

Hey you are doin ok there! You have talked to someone in France and France isn't all that far from the UK. We may be able to meet up on air sometime.
I do have access to HF on a Thursday night at our local radio club but it wouldn't be with my own callsign. I would use the club callsign GX4NOK, but because I am supervised it means that I can use 400W!! Also the beam at the club is a huge Mosely and the last time I went on I was getting USA contacts no problem!

I think you have both done really well there girls I think our club has only just got it's call sign because they had much trouble getting the one they wanted. I think the one they originally wanted was in use so they had to finally opt for something different. I actually heard a female for a few moments on the air about 3 or 4 nights ago but wasn't sure where she was from because I couldn't quite make out her callsign but here's hoping that in the future I can hear more.

Yep that is something else I have to get sorted 'QSL Cards and a Log Book', I can get a log book from the radio club but it's a bright red n white affair and I am not into bright red....lol! Hubby would say 'It's the job it does thats important, not the colour!' He is right but what the heck I might find something I like better else where. I can now say with pride that I can't wait till I get my first QSL Card

See that's where men and women differ! If I could get a really fancy log book that cost £20 I would pay it just for the fancy details.
Most men would get one of the plain ones that still does the job and think I was crazy ;D

We just have a simpl log book, it is a beige color. Dave and I share the log book, we just put our initial so we know who made the contact.
