I don't know how many of you are aware of this but, it is Thinking Day on the Air for Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Senior Sections on 18 and 19 February 2006.
This means that amateurs the world over volunteer to run stations for the benefit of said Guides etc.
The 22nd February is Thinking Day because it was the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout and Guide movements, and his wife Olave, who was the first World Chief Guide - stations are usually run at the nearest weekend to that date.
If you would be interested in volunteering your services to Units in your area, I have put together some information which you can send to them with background information etc.
I propose to run this under UKLOTA - "female friendly" in these PC days!
Send me an email to uklota@hotmail.co.uk and I'll let you have the information.
I think this is a good opportunity to show the children and leaders what amateur radio is all about and encourage them to take part and hopefully, take the Foundation Licence.
Thanks, Lin
